Tartans in Second Following 36 Holes at Golfweek DIII Spring Invite

(HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team continued play at the 2021 Golfweek DIII Spring Invitational on Saturday and carded a 316 in the second round. The Tartans have a 36-hole score of 638 (322-316) and are in second in the eight-team event. The 54-hole invitational is being held at the par-72, 5,800-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Freshman Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) carded her second straight round of 79 on Saturday and leads the Tartans with a 36-hole score of 158 (79-79). Pan is tied for fifth individually in a field of 40 golfers heading into the final round of play on Sunday.

Senior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) and sophomore Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview) both fired rounds of 80 with Simpson having a two-round score of 159 (79-80) and Cao a 160 (80-80).

Sophomore Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) improved six strokes from her opening round and carded a team-low 78 Saturday and has a 36-hole score of 162 (84-78). Freshman Meher Mankikar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan) will enter round three with a 172 (86-86).

The third and final round is set for Sunday morning with the first group teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
