Cao Ties Collegiate-Low Round at First Round of Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate

(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed in the first round of the 36-hole Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Tartans carded a 312 on the par-72, 5,821-yard Montgomery Country Club course and are currently tied for fourth in the 10-team event.

Sophomore Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview) tied her collegiate-best round on Sunday with a four-over par 76 to lead the Tartans. The sophomore is currently tied for 10th individually in the 50-golfer field.

Senior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) carded a 77 with sophomore Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) entering the clubhouse with a 79. Freshmen Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) and Meher Mankikar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan) each shot rounds of 80 Sunday afternoon.

The second round will be played Monday with the first group teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
