Tartans Lead After Opening Round of Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate

(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed in the first round of the 36-hole Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Tartans carded a 286 on the par-72, 5,632-yard Montgomery Country Club course and are currently on top of the leaderboard in the 13-team event.

Freshman Sriya Mupparaju (San Diego, Calif./Del Norte) birdied hole 18 Sunday afternoon to enter the clubhouse with a two-under par 70 and is tied for third individually in a field of 72 golfers.

Senior Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman), junior Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) along with and freshman Kaylin Yeoh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) all fired rounds of even par 72 on Sunday afternoon. They are tied for fifth individually. Sophomore Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) ended the day with a 77.

The second round will be played Monday with the first group teeing off at 7:30 a.m. CT.
