Tartans in Second Following 18 Holes of Generals Cup Invitational, Mupparaju Aces Hole 15

(HOT SPRINGS, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team carded a 302 at the opening round of the Generals Cup Invitational on Monday hosted by Washington and Lee University. The 36-hole, two-day event is being played at The Cascades at Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia. The Cardinal and Gray will start play on Tuesday on the par-71 course in second in a field of 11 with the host Generals leading after firing a 297 Monday.

Freshman Sriya Mupparaju (San Diego, Calif./Del Norte) led the Cardinal and Gray on Monday, as she recorded the program's second hole-in-one and finished the round with an even par 71 and is tied atop the individual leaderboard in a field of 58 golfers. Mupparaju's ace came on the 121-yard, par 3 15th hole.

Junior Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) is tied for sixth after carding a four-over 75. Senior Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) and sophomore Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) ended the day both firing a 78 while freshman Kaylin Yeoh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) shot an 82.

Carnegie Mellon had one individual compete at the event, as freshman Reeya Vasishta (Mountain View, Calif./Mountain View) shot a 76.

The second round will be played Tuesday with the first group teeing off at 8:45 a.m.
