Mupparaju Claims Medalist Honors at Generals Cup Invitational, Tartans Finish Third

(HOT SPRINGS, Va.) – Freshman Sriya Mupparaju (San Diego, Calif./Del Norte) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team took individual medalist honor at the 36-hole Generals Cup Invitational on Tuesday hosted by Washington and Lee University. The Tartans placed third in the 11-team field after carding a 601 (302-299) on the par-71 course at The Cascades at Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia.

The win marks Mupparaju's second in her first three collegiate tournaments. She entered the clubhouse on Tuesday with a one-over par 72 to go with her even par round on Monday for a 143.

Junior Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) tied for 10th individually after firing a 74 in the final round for a 152 (78-74). Senior Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) fired a 78 and ended the event with a 153 (75-78) while sophomore Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) shot a 154 (78-76). Freshman Kaylin Yeoh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) improved five strokes Tuesday from her opening round score and shot a 159 (82-77)

Carnegie Mellon had one individual compete at the event, as freshman Reeya Vasishta (Mountain View, Calif./Mountain View) ended the vent with a 143 (76-73).

Carnegie Mellon will be back on the links October 17-19 when the play in the Golfweek Fall Preview. The three-day event is being held at the Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida.
