Tartans Lead After Opening Round of The Savannah Invitational

(POOLER, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team, ranked tops in Division III, opened play at the 36-hole Savannah Invitational on Monday hosted by Berry College. The two-day event is being played at the par 72, 5,676-yard Savannah Quarters Country Club where the Tartans carded a first round score of 294 to lead the 14-team field. The 294 is the fourth lowest team round in program history.

Freshman Sriya Mupparaju (San Diego, Calif./Del Norte) started the spring where she left off by carding a two-under par 70 to lead the field of 81 golfers. Her 70 also ties her collegiate-low round.

Junior Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) sits one-stroke back after entering the clubhouse with a season-best round of one-under par 71 and is tied for second individually. Senior Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) fired a 76 while freshman Kaylin Yeoh (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) shot a 77. Freshman Reeya Vasishta (Mountain View, Calif./Mountain View) ended play on Monday with an 88.

Carnegie Mellon had two individuals compete at the event, sophomore Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) as shot a 76 while sophomore Tiana Porwanto (Jakarta Utara, Indonesia / Masa Depan Cerah Subrabaya Christian) carded an 80.

The second day of play will continue Tuesday with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
