#19 Tartans Close Regular Season with Tie Against #8 Emory

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer finished second in the University Athletic Association with a 4-1-2 record after tying Emory University 0-0 on Saturday, November 3. The #19 Tartans finish with an 11-1-4 overall record while the #8 Eagles finish at 11-1-6 and 3-1-3.

Emory had the first shot of the game in the 16th minute but the attempt by Kelly Costopoulos was high of the goal.

Carnegie Mellon's Jordyn Greenberg (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) had the first shot on goal when she sent a free kick at the net in the 31st minute that keeper Erica Stein controlled.

The final minutes of the first period saw Carnegie Mellon keeper Anna Albi (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) make her first of nine saves for the game when she stopped a shot by Emily Feldman in the 39th minute.

The Tartan defense thwarted an attempt with 12 seconds to play in the period when junior Rachel Contopoulos (Oakland, Calif./Berkeley) cleared a shot by Lauren Drosick off the goalline following a corner kick by Lee Bachouros.

Albi was big for the Tartans in the second period, making six saves as the Tartans got shots on goal by junior Alex Venegas (Los Angelos, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) and senior Katie Davis (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees).

Emory's Feldman hit the post with a shot two minutes into the first overtime as freshman Carson Quiros (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) had a shot go high in the 96th minute.

Albi made her final save of the game in the 105th minute as she earned her sixth shutout of the season.
