No. 5 Tartans Defeat Grove City 1-0 in Double Overtime

(GROVE CITY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team increased it's record to 7-0 as last week's ECAC Rookie of the Week, freshman Tori Iatarola (West Dundee, Ill./Loyola Academy) scored the single goal of the game in double overtime.

Though the Tartans out-shot the Wolverines 27-7 and 13-2 on the goal, it wasn't until the 106th minute that the ball would find the back of the net.

Off of a pass from senior Savina Reid (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff), Iatarola took her fourth strike at the net which ended up being the first and only goal of the game, her second of the season.  It was also her second game-winning goal this year.

The Carnegie Mellon offense was persistent with its shots with 11 members of the team adding shots to the tally of 27.

Of the two shots that the Wolverines had on goal, sophomore keeper Katie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio/Montessori HS at University Circle) prevented a score.

The Tartans will take the field again next Sunday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Frostburg State University.
