No. 7 Tartans Record Second Shutout of Season

(ERIE, Pa.) - The No. 7 Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team recorded its second shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory against The College of Wooster on Saturday, September 5 at the Herb Lauffner Memorial Tournament at Penn State Behrend. Junior Megan Bartoshuk (Redwood City, Calif./Sequoia) scored twice in the win earning tournament MVP honors.

The Tartans opened the scoring in the 25th minute with Bartoshuk's first strike. The junior then found the back of the net six minutes later for a 2-0 Tartan advantage. Freshman Kaily Bruch (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) assisted on the play.

In the second half, senior Alli McGugan (Chicago, Ill./Marist) put one past Carly Eppler in goal for the Fighting Scots after receiving a pass from sophomore Sienna Stritter (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo School) from the endline in the 57th minute.

Junior Katie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio/Montessori HS at University Circle) earned the win as the Tartans defense did not allow a shot by the Fighting Scots for the game.

The game was called final with 9:40 left after two different lightning delays.

The Tartans will be in action again on Wednesday, September 9 at 5:00 p.m. at La Roche College.
