(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team hosted John Carroll University on Friday, September 25, winning the match 5-1 for its fifth consecutive victory. The sixth-ranked Tartans improve to 7-0-1 while the Blue Streaks fall to 2-6-1.

Sophomore Haili Adams (Kirkland, Wash./Juanita) opened the scoring in the 16th minute when she received a pass from junior Anna Vonderhaar (Wheaton, Ill./St. Francis) with her back to the goal. She turned and fired a shot over the head of Taylor Tercek from 24 yards out for her fourth score of the season.

The Blue Streaks equalized in the 22nd minute when Andrea Regrut sent a cross to the far post that curved and got by sophomore Sarah Mahler (Cincinnati, Ohio/Madeira) in goal.

Three minutes later, sophomore Sienna Stritter (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo School) dribbled through the defense to the left of the 18-yard box where she put a shot over the keeper to the opposite post. In the 35th minute, sophomore Nicole Winegardner (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) added to the Tartans' advantage when she chipped the keeper off a corner kick service by senior Louisa Pendergast (Snohomish, Wash./Glacier Peak).

The score remained 4-1 in favor of the Tartans until freshman Tessa Allen (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Bishop Montgomery) scored her third of the season in the 82nd minute. A deep throw-in by Allen was headed by a defender and went off the post, the rebound was kicked around and bounced to Allen at the top of the 18-yard box where she fired a shot to the far post for the goal.
