(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Junior defender Amelia Clark (Frederick, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) scored her first career goal in a timely fashion as the fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team defeated 23rd-ranked New York University, 1-0, in double overtime on Saturday, October 10 in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. The Tartans improve to 11-0-1 on the year and 2-0-0 in UAA play while the Violets fall to 9-2-0 and 1-1-0.

The Tartans held the offensive action with four shots on goal in the first period and five on goal in the second period. Tartan junior goalkeeper Katie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio/Montessori HS at University Circle) made two saves for the game, with one coming in the first half and the second coming in the first overtime.

New York put pressure on the Tartans in overtime but were unable to get off a threatening shot and the Tartans returned the favor in the second overtime, earning a corner kick with 6:36 to play.

Clark was on the receiving end of sophomore Tori Iatarola's (West Dundee, Ill./Loyola Academy) service to the far post and she finished a one-time shot to the opposite post as the goalkeeper leapt to punch the ball away.

The Tartans will entertain the University of Rochester on Friday, October 16 at 5:00 p.m. for their next contest.
