#15 Women's Soccer Wins 1-0 at Washington & Jefferson

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team traveled to Washington, Pennsylvania, to the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College on Friday, September 22 and finished with a 1-0 victory. The win moved the Tartans record to 5-1-1 while the Presidents fell to 3-3-1.

The Tartans found rythm in the second half after attempting four shots in the first period. Sophomore Ryan Casey (Pasadena, Calif. / Polytechnic) scored her sixth goal of the season and first game winner in the 57th minute after the Tartans had two shots in the period turned away by Allison Rinehimer in net for the Presidents.

Casey's goal came after a ball was kicked up into the box and passed from the post back to center of the goal where Casey finished the shot.

Not even two minutes later, freshman Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo. / Micds) made a save in goal for the Tartans. The ball was quickly pushed up field where senior Haili Adams (Kirkland, Wash. / Juanita) fired a shot that hit the crossbar.

Botz made another save in the 71st minute and a header shot by Ashton Grimm sailed wide in the last 10 seconds for the Presidents.

The Tartans will next play host to Westminster College on Sunday, September 24 at 5:00 p.m.
