#9 Tartans Top Emory, 2-1, in Home Contest

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team continued University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Friday, October 27 when Emory University visited Pittsburgh. The Tartans earned a 2-1 victory to move to 11-2-2 for the year and 3-1-1 in the UAA while the Eagles fell to 9-5-1 and 1-3-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Tartans got on the board in the 60th minute when senior Morgan Kontor (Annapolis, Md. / Severn School) headed in a free ball in the box after junior Tessa Allen's (Manhattan Beach, Calif. / Bishop Montgomery) throw-in bounced twice in the box and was not secured by the keeper.

Less than two minutes later the Tartans earned a corner kick. Senior Sienna Stritter (Menlo Park, Calif. / Menlo School) served a low driven ball to the near post where senior Alex Moy (Southborough, Mass. / Algonquin Regional) met it with one strike toward the goal for her first score of the season.

It wasn't until the 82nd minute that the Eagles were able to cut into the Tartan lead when Lily Dresner scored off an indirect kick inside the box that was touched backward by Caroline Kolski.

The Tartans will next face the University of Rochester at home on Sunday, October 29 at 1:30 p.m.
