Botz Honored by UAA as Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer sophomore Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for her performance in a 2-0 week for the Tartans. The honor is the first of the season for the Tartans.

Botz earned two shutouts on the road this week with a 1-0 win against #16 University of Lynchburg and a 2-0 win against Roanoke College. Botz made two saves in the second half against Lynchburg to preserve the win and shutout and made three total saves against Roanoke, two in the first half while the score was 0-0 and one in the second half with the Tartans up 1-0.

Botz is now 3-0-1 for the season with 18 career wins and 13 career shutouts.

The Tartans next host Grove City College on Wednesday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. before welcoming fifth-ranked Messiah College to Pittsburgh on Saturday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m.
