Williams Named CoSIDA Academic All-District for Women’s Soccer

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer junior Camille Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio/The Seven Hills School) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District women's soccer team, as announced by the association. The district team is voted on by sports information directors in the state of Pennsylvania.

Nominated players must be starters or significant reserves in at least their sophomore season and carry a minimum GPA of 3.30. Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 which is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania.  Williams now moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration, an honor she received last year.

A defender for the Tartans, Williams helped the team to an 8-8-1 record with six shutouts this season. She has been an All-UAA honoree twice, starting the past two-and-a-half years while serving as captain in 2018.

Away from the field, Williams maintains a 3.95 GPA as a chemistry major with a minor in business. As a member of Plaidvocates, a peer health and wellness advocacy program for athletes, Williams initiated, coordinated and executed the idea of an "Athlete Cook Off" workshop to promote healthy eating. The junior is an undergraduate researcher of organic and polymer synthesis, spent the summer at LORD Corporation in Erie, Pennsylvania, as a student associate on the analytical chemistry team and was previously an intern in an inorganic chemistry lab at the University of Cincinnati.
