Adams Scores Twice in Tartans 3-0 Win Against Grove City

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team scored twice as the Tartans defeated Grove City College, 3-0, on Wednesday, September 11 at home. The Tartans are now 3-1-1 while the Wolverines fall to 1-3.

It was 0-0 after the first 45 minutes of play with the Tartans recording six shots to two for the Wolverines. Adams entered the second half in the 62nd minute and scored her first goal of the night six minutes later. Sophomore Maddie Cech (Cincinnati, Ohio / Indian Hill) served a ball over the defense from the left side that Adams settled down and moved to her left foot for a shot from close range up and over the keeper.

Less than three minutes later a similar play occurred with Adams again scoring. Junior Taylor Cammarata (Cary, N.C. / Green Hope) earned the assist with a ball over the top that Adams ran onto and finish high with her right foot.

The last goal of the evening came from off Cammarata's foot with 15 seconds to play. The junior had a shot blocked inside the box but the rebound came right to her which she calmly finished to the left of the keeper.

The Tartans will next travel to third-ranked Messiah College on Saturday, September 14 for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
