(GRANTHAM, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team traveled to Grantham, Pennsylvania, to face third-ranked Messiah College on Saturday, September 14. The home squad topped the Tartans, 3-0, to move to 5-1 for the year while the Tartans fall to 3-2-1.
The Falcons were able to score in the 26th minute when junior Maddie Kohl got a shot past junior Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS). Freshman Kylie Firestone made the score 2-0 in the 39th minute and the Falcons led by two at the break. The Tartans put three of their four shots of the half on frame but all were stopped by junior Lydia Ewing.
The final goal of the game came in the 83rd minute off the foot of freshman Rebecca Ritchie.
The Tartans will next play at Washington and Jefferson College on Friday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m.
