Four Tartans Selected to All-UAA Women’s Soccer Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Four members of the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team were recognized by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Thursday when the All-UAA Women's Soccer Team was announced. Three freshmen and a junior were honored for the fourth-place Tartans who finished the regular season ranked nationally with an 11-5-1 record and an invite to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship tournament.

Freshman forward Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) was the top Tartan on the team earning first-team accolades while freshman defender Rachel Legg (Kansas City, Mo. / Pembroke) was honored on the second team. Junior midfielder Taylor Cammarata (Cary, N.C. / Green Hope) and freshman forward Helena Spencer (Warrenton, Va. / Patriot) were recognized on the honorable mention team.

Adams led the Tartans with 11 goals including seven game winners, tying both the freshman record for goals scored in a season and the most game winners in a season. She scored three game-winning goals in UAA play which ranked tied for the top of the conference.

As a center back for the Tartans, Legg anchored the defense which surrendered seven goals in UAA play with a 4-3 record all while starting 16 of 17 games this season. Cammarata and Spencer each scored four goals this season with Cammarata putting in the game-winner against then 17th-ranked University of Rochester. The junior also scored against 12th-ranked University of Chicago on the road. Spencer combined with Adams to pressure every opponent this season and connected on Spencer's goal in a win at home against Nazareth College late in October. Spencer's lone goal in UAA play came in a 3-1 win at 21st-ranked Case Western Reserve University.

The Tartans continue their season on Saturday, November 16 in the first round of the NCAA tournament at home against Cairn University at 5:00 p.m.
