Adams Named CoSIDA Academic All-District for Women’s Soccer

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, as announced by the association. Adams is one of three forwards honored on the District 4 team. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 that is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania. Adams will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America recognition.

Adams was honored by United Soccer Coaches and D3soccer.com as a third-team All-American in 2019 after a rookie campaign where she scored a team best 14 goals and broke the school record for points in a season with 34. Seven of her goals were game winners, which tied the school's single-season record. Adams helped lead the program to its first NCAA semifinal appearance and scored in the NCAA semifinal against Messiah.

In the classroom, Adams carries a 3.94 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major. She is a research undergraduate assistant, a teaching assistant, and serves as a mechanical engineering student advisory council representative. Her summer plans include an internship at RE2 Robotics in mechanical engineering.
