Adams, Lui, Mayer Garner CoSIDA Academic All-America Awards

Junior Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny), senior Maddy Lui (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) and senior Jocelyn Mayer (New York, N.Y. / The Dalton School) of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Women’s Soccer Team. The honor is the second for Adams and first for both Lui and Mayer.

Adams Repeats as United Soccer Coaches All-American Selection

December 03, 2021

Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer junior Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) is now a two-time All-American, as she was named to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-America Team for the second straight playing season. Adams was selected to the second team this season after being a third-team selection and the only freshman to be honored as an All-American in 2019.

A pair of Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer players were honored on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team when the association announced their awards this week. Junior Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) is a repeat honoree on the first team for Region VII with junior Nikki Hasson (Torrance, Calif. / California Academy of Mathematics and Science) being honored on the third team team for the first time.

OT Game Goes to MIT in NCAA Sectional Semifinal

November 20, 2021

The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team was held to one shot on goal against the the eighth-ranked MIT Engineers in the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Sectional Semifinal on Saturday, November 20 on the Engineers' home field. The Tartans, ranked 15th nationally, fell 2-1 in overtime after tying the game midway through the second half.

Askounis Named UAA Freshman of the Year, Three Others Honored on All-UAA Team

November 16, 2021

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team had four players named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Soccer Team by the league’s coaches with freshman Maria Askounis (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Marian) earning UAA Freshman of the Year distinction. Askounis also made the first team along with junior Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny).

Spencer Honored as UAA Athlete of the Week

Junior Helena Spencer (Warrenton, Va. / Patriot) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week following her performance as the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team won their first and second round games of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

2-0 Victory Sends Tartans to Sectional Semifinal for Sixth Time

November 14, 2021

The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer program has advanced in the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after topping seventh-ranked McDaniel College by a 2-0 score Sunday afternoon on the Green Terror's home field. The win moves the Tartans overall record to 13-5-1 while McDaniel ends its storybook season with an 18-2-1 record after giving up just five goals all season.

Double OT Thriller Ends With Tartans 2-1 Win in First Round of NCAA Tournament

November 13, 2021

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team advanced to the second round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship with a header by junior Helena Spencer (Warrenton, Va. / Patriot) with six minutes to play in double overtime against Trine University on Saturday, November 13 at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. The Tartans are now 12-5-1 for the season while Trine closes the year at 15-5-2.

Four Tartans Named CoSIDA Academic All-District for Women’s Soccer

Four Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer players have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team. Junior Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) has been selected to the team for the second time and is joined by first-time honorees, graduate student Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS), senior Maddy Lui (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) and senior Jocelyn Mayer (New York, N.Y. / The Dalton School). To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

Tartans Selected to NCAA Championships Field for Eighth Time

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after finishing fourth in the University Athletic Association. The appearance in the NCAA tournament marks the eighth in nine years for the program which finished the regular season with an 11-5-1 overall mark.

Tartans Close Regular Season with 1-0 Loss to CWRU

November 07, 2021

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team hosted 10th-ranked Case Western Reserve University for its last regular season game on Sunday, November 7. The closely contested game ended in favor of the Spartans by a 1-0 score after a first half goal. The Tartans are now 11-5-1 overall and finish 3-3-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Spartans advanced to 14-1-2 and 4-1-2.

Two Goals by Askounis Leads Tartans to 4-0 Win Against Chicago

October 31, 2021

Freshman Maria Askounis (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Marian) scored twice and sophomore Cecelia Dieterich (South Paris, Maine / Oxford) put in an early goal to lead the 16th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team to a 4-0 win against 12th-ranked University of Chicago on Sunday, October 31. The Tartans are now 11-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Maroons drop to 12-2-3 and 2-2-2.

Tight Contest Favors Visiting WashU in 1-0 Loss for the Tartans

The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team collected more opportunities in the 90-minute game with the Washington University in St. Louis Bears on Friday, October 29 but were unable to find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to the third-ranked to in the nation. The Tartans, ranked 16th, are now 10-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the University Athletic Association while the Bears move to 13-0-1 and 5-0.

Adams Named UAA Athlete of the Week

October 26, 2021

Junior forward Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team's 7-0 win against Penn State Altoona at home on Saturday, October 23. The award is the first for the Tartans this season.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team, ranked 18th in the nation, hosted Penn State Altoona on Saturday, October 23 in non-conference action and celebrated the seniors prior to the 7-0 victory. Graduate student Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) became the Tartans all-time wins leader with 34 career wins after earning her 10th win of the season while junior Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) recorded her first career hat trick.

Tartans Hold Advantage in Shots but Fall to #25 Emory, 1-0

October 17, 2021

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team once again held the advantage in shots on goal in their fourth University Athletic Association (UAA) game of the season but fell to the 25th-ranked Emory University Eagles, 1-0, at Emory on Sunday afternoon. The Tartans are now 9-3-1 and 2-1-1 in the UAA while the Eagles move to 10-3-1 and 2-2.
