Tartans Host Dive Meet

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University diving team hosted a meet with Washington & Jefferson College on Friday, November 22. Freshman Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) won the 3-meter event while junior Winona Li (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) won the 1-meter event.

Kaku, who has already qualified for the regional diving meet at the end of the season, recorded 246.90 points after six dives in the preliminary round on the 3-meter board. That point total was a season best. She then went on to win the finals after an 11-dive score of 428.93. Junior Andie Azofeifa (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) placed third in the event with a point score of 324.53.

Li won the 1-meter event after recording 370.13 points on 11 dives. Junior Amanda Savidge (Gettysburg, Pa./Bermudian Springs) finished second on the 1-meter board with 219.00 points with  sophomore Candace Ju (Andover, Mass./Andover) taking third with 189.98 points.

On the men's side, Ioannis Michailidis (Athens, Greece/Hellenic American) placed second on the 1-meter board with 214.50 points after 11 dives.
