Women Close Out Competition at NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team finished the 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday, March 22 with a 39th-place finish after tallying 10 points.

Senior Soleil Phan (Irvine, Calif./Beckman) swam in her last individual event as a Tartan and finished 27th overall in the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best 52.58. Sophomore Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) finished 29th overall in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:05.77.

In the last relay event of the meet, the Tartans team of Phan, senior Megan Garvey (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), freshman Gillian Crews (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and sophomore Felicia Wang (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) finished 26th in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:35.05.

For the meet, the Tartans earned Honorable Mention All-America in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard medley relay, while setting new school records in both relays and the 100-yard breaststroke.
