Four Invited to Compete at NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - Four Carnegie Mellon University women's swimmers have been invited to compete at the 2015 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on March 18-21 after the 400-yard medley relay qualified during the year.

Sophomore Gillian Crews (Fairfax, Va./Oakton), who is part of the 400-yard medley relay, also was invited in the 100-yard butterfly after her school-record time of 56.10 put her in the top 16. Crews also provisionally qualified in the 200-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle and will swim those events along with the relays.

Joining Crews on the 400-yard medley relay is junior Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), sophomore Allison Kirkby (West Chester, Pa. / Conestoga) and freshman Kimberly Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn).

Singhaus is returning to the championships for the second year, as she was on the 400-yard medley relay along with Crews in 2014 which earned All-America recognition. Singhaus will also swim the 200-yard backstroke as she provisionally qualified for the event with a time of 2:05.14.

Hochstedler provisionally qualified for the meet in the 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes and will compete in both events at the national meet, while the four will also swim the 200-yard medley relay and the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays.
