Kaku Advances to NCAA Championships on 1-Meter Board

(GENESEO, N.Y.) - Sophomore diver Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) advanced to the 2015 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships after competing at the NCAA Zone 4 Regional on Saturday, February 28. The national meet will take place on March 18-21 in Shenandoah, Texas.

Kaku placed fourth overall at the regional on the 1-meter board after scoring 398.60 points. The top seven divers advance to the national meet where 24 will compete for a national title.

Also competing for the Tartans was junior Winona Li (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and senior Andie Azofeifa (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County). Li finished 13th on the 1-meter board with 371.45 points while Azofeifa was 19th with 339.90 points. On Friday night, Li finished 15th on the 3-meter board with 345.05 points and Azofeifa was 22nd with 315.20 points.
