Nicklas-Morris Earns All-America Honor at NCAA Championships

(SHENANDOAH, Texas) - Carnegie Mellon University freshman Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C./RJ Reynolds) earned All-America honors in the first event of her career at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, March 15.

Nicklas-Morris earned her way to the finals of the 200-yard IM on Wednesday with a school-record time of 2:04.04 in the preliminaries. The freshman finished the finals Wednesday night eighth overall in 2:04.72 to earn 11 points for the Tartans and her first All-America honor.

Juniors Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) and Mary St. John (Bethesda, Md./Sidwell Friends School) also swam in the 200-yard IM preliminaries Wednesday morning. Hochstedler swam a career-best time of 2:10.73 while St. John finished in 2:09.92.

Both Nicklas-Morris and St. John will be back in the pool Thursday for the 400-yard IM, while Hochstedler will next swim the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday.
