Tartans Continue to Earn Awards at NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team continued to earn awards at the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday when two swimmers landed a spot in the consolation finals.

Senior Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind. / Penn) and sophomore Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds) each finished 16th in their respective races Friday night. Hochstedler touched the wall in 1:04.85 in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Nicklas-Morris finished her run in individual events by touching the final wall of the 200-yard butterfly in 1:04.97. The finish for Nicklas-Morris was her third All-America Honorable Mention performance of the meet. The sophomore also earned one All-America finish.

The final day of competition is Saturday with numerous Tartans swimming in the 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and 400-yard freestyle relay.
