Tartans Compete at Western PA Invite
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team competed at the Western Pennsylvania Invitational at the University of Pittsburgh on Friday and Saturday for a tune-up to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships.
Sophomore Lillie Widmayer (Old Bridge N.J. / West Windsor Plainsboro) was the top Tartan on the 3-meter diving board finishing 10th with 160.65 points after six dives Friday afternoon. The sophomore was also the top Tartan on the 1-meter board when she scored 200.10 points to place ninth.
Junior Taylor Brown (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) touched second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:38.11 while sophomore Stefanie McMillan (Vancouver, Wash. / Skyview) was fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:14.13.
Sophomore Jessica Chau (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood) finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:06.15 and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.99.
Freshman Madeline Hoedemaker (Pennington, N.J. / Hopewell Valley Central) turned in a fifth-place performance in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.21.
Junior Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds) was sixth in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.55 and fifth in the 200-yard IM in 2:14.31.
Senior Cassidy Smith (Carlisle, Mass. / Concord-Carlisle Regional) was sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.38.
The UAA Championships are next and begin on Wednesday, February 13 in Chicago, Illinois.
