Tartans Cruise to Victory at Grove City

(GROVE CITY, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team traveled to Grove City College for a dual meet, topping the Wolverines 239-55.

Junior Maddie Mianzo (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) topped her teammates in the 1-meter event for a victory with 243.55 points and also won the 3-meter event with 224.25 points.

Freshman Mathea Myhrvold (Raleigh, N.C. / Wakefield) was first in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.63 and in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.18. Freshman Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, BC / Collingwood School) touched first in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:10.04 and in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.37. Senior Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds) was first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:28.83 and in the 400-yard IM in 4:40.24. Freshman Tiffany Tseng (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) was first in the 100-yard butterfly in 58.86 and in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.24.

Tseng and Myhrvold were also in both the relays that won on Saturday.

Senior Teagan Goforth (Portland, Ore. / Tualatin) won the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Eva Guo (Flushing, N.Y. / Townsend Harris) was first in the 100-yard breaststroke, and sophomore Kierstyn Cassidy (Waynesville, Ohio / Waynesville) was first in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

The Tartans will next host Washington and Lee University for a dual meet on Saturday, November 16 at 11:30 a.m.
