Tartans Finish Sixth at West Virginia Invitational

(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team finished sixth out of 10 teams at the West Virginia University Invitational which concluded on Saturday, November 23.

Senior Taylor Brown (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) finished ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:22.94.

Three Tartans made the B Final of the 200-yard backstroke with freshman Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, BC / Collingwood School) leading with a 13th-place finish in a season-best time of 2:03.00.

Freshman Eva Guo (Flushing, N.Y. / Townsend Harris) was 12th overall in the 200-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:22.56 while freshman Mathea Myhrvold (Raleigh, N.C. / Wakefield) was 20th overall in the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 52.75.

The top finish in the 200-yard butterfly came from senior Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds), as she placed 11th in a season-best 2:05.72.

The 400-yard freestyle relay closed the meet with a ninth-place showing by freshman Tiffany Tseng (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy), senior Mary Day (Warren, N.J. / Mount Saint Mary Academy), Myhrvold, and Nicklas-Morris in 3:30.45.

The next meet for the Tartans will take place during their training trip to Florida on January 5.
