Tartans Set Four School Records at Kenyon

(GAMBIER, Ohio) - Coming off an excellent performance at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, the Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team set four new school records at the Kenyon College Fast Chance Invitational on Saturday, February 22.

Top performances for the women on Saturday came from senior Taylor Brown (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) and freshman Tiffany Tseng (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy). Brown set two individual records in the distance freestyles while Tseng set a sprint freestyle record and was part of a relay record.

Brown's time of 17:15.04 in the 1,650-yard freestyle topped sophomore Kierstyn Cassidy's (Waynesville, Ohio / Waynesville) record set last week at the UAA Championships. During her swim on Saturday, Brown also set a new 1,000-yard freestyle record based on split times with a time of 10:24.28.

Tseng led off the 400-yard freestyle relay that set a new school record with a time of 3:28.00 with a 51.88 split in the 100-yard freestyle to top teammate Mary Day's (Warren, N.J. / Mount Saint Mary Academy) record set in 2017. The relay consisted of Tseng, freshman Clare Brown (Grantham, N.J. / Lebanon), freshman Mathea Myhrvold (Raleigh, N.C. / Wakefield) and Day on Saturday to set the record.

Freshman Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, BC / Collingwood School) just missed setting a new school record in the 200-yard backstroke when she touched in 2:01.45 for a career-best time. The record is currently held by Molly Evans at 2:01.44, set at the 2008 NCAA Championships. Wang's time puts her in the top 10 in the nation.

The NCAA will announce individuals and relays invited to the 2020 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, February 27.
