Tartans Open 2021-2022 Season at Pitt Relays

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team opened the 2021-2022 season at the University of Pittsburgh for the Pitt Relays on Saturday, October 2.

The 200-yard medley relay kicked off the meet with a quad of juniors, Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, BC / Collingwood School), Reilly McManus (Ridgefield, Conn. / Rye Country Day), Tiffany Tseng (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy), and Mathea Myhrvold (Raleigh, N.C. / Wakefield), touching fourth to lead seven groups of Tartans. The relay finished in 1:52.94.

The 400-yard IM relay touched third in 4:18.01 with Wang doing the backstroke, freshman Reece Whatmore (Sarasota, Fla. / The Out-of-Door Academy) the breaststroke, sophomore Emily Jordan (Ashburn, Va. / Briar Woods) the butterfly, and sophomore Erica Iizuka (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) the freestyle.

The 200-yard freestyle relay of Tseng, junior Rachel Fuechtman (Hinsdale, Ill. / Hinsdale Central), graduate student Emma Graham (Mount Lebanon, Pa. / Mount Lebanon), and Myhrvold closed the meet with a fourth-place showing in a time of 1:42.12.

The Tartans will host in intrasquad meet on Saturday, October 9 during Family Weekend and then travel to Kenyon College for the Kenyon Relays on Saturday, October 16.
