Tartans Sweep UAA Awards for Second Time

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) weekly awards for the second time this season. Sophomore Kelli Kuramoto (Los Altos, Calif. / Los Altos) earns the UAA Women's Diver of the week for the third time while senior Kierstyn Cassidy (Waynesville, Ohio / Waynesville) earns her first UAA Women's Swimmer of the Week.

Kuramoto earned top points on the 1-meter board with a score of 292.65 and top points on the 3-meter board with a score of 293.85 during the Tartans dual meet with Washington and Lee University. Both scores surpass the NCAA Regional qualifying marks and send Kuramoto to the NCAA Regional Diving Meet in February as she achieved the result on the 1-meter board for the second time this season.

Cassidy won the 1,000-yard freestyle for the second time this season with a time of 10:46.87 and also won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:13.39.

The swimmers continue the season on Thursday, November 18 at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational while the divers will host an invitational on Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20.
