Tartans Place Third with Season-Best Times at Kenyon Total Performance Invitational

(GAMBIER, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team placed third at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational which concluded on Saturday, November 20. The Tartans set many personal best times and met one NCAA B Cut time.

Senior Kierstyn Cassidy (Waynesville, Ohio / Waynesville) swam the 1,650-yard freestyle for the first time this year and finished in 17:28.94 to place fourth overall.

Junior Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, BC / Collingwood School) met the NCAA qualifying time in the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 2:03.14 to place third. Junior Tiffany Tseng (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) placed seventh in 2:04.95 with freshman Emma Hoffman (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) placing eighth in 2:06.00.

Junior Mathea Myhrvold (Raleigh, N.C. / Wakefield) swam in the A-Final of the 100-yard freestyle and touched in 52.49 to place seventh to lead the Tartans.

Freshman Emma Kulbida (Broomfield, Colo. / Stargate Charter) and junior Aidan Pinto (Rockaway, N.J. / Morris Hills) finished ninth and tenth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:23.19 and 2:26.98, respectively. Both are career-best times, as Pinto knocked nearly three seconds off her previous best.

Three Tartans swam in the A-Final of the 200-yard butterfly with freshman Reece Whatmore (Sarasota, Fla. / The Out-of-Door Academy) placing seventh in 2:07.78, freshman Carolann Kimock (Old Bridge, N.J. / Saint John Vianney) tied for eighth in 2:08.88 and freshman Molly Kinstle (Easthampton, Mass. / Williston Northampton) touched in 2:10.23 for 10th place.

The Tartans will break from competition for the holiday season and jump back in the water on the road against Denison University on January 15.
