Tartan Women Open Competition at NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team started competition at the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, March 16, with all four swimmers entering the pool. The event is being held at the IUPUI IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Senior Kierstyn Cassidy (Waynesville, Ohio / Waynesville), freshman Emma Hoffman (Ballston Spa, N.Y.  Ballston Spa), junior Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, BC / Collingwood School), and junior Tiffany Tseng (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) all swam individual events to get the meet started. Cassidy swam the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.15 to finish 36th out of 54 competitors with Hoffman finishing 50th in a season-best time of 5:07.85. Wang took to the pool in the 200-yard IM and placed 40th out of 62 in 2:07.94 while Tseng swam the 50-yard freestyle in 24.32 which was 59th best.

Hoffman led off the 200-yard medley relay with Wang swimming second, Tseng third, and Cassidy fourth to finish 26th overall in 1:49.54.

On Thursday, Cassidy and Hoffman will each swim the 200-yard freestyle with the group teaming up for the 200-yard freestyle relay.
