Kuramoto Brings Home Second All-America Finish

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team continued action at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, March 17 with junior Kelli Kuramoto earning her second championship trophy. The Tartans now have 49 points and sit 16th out of 32 teams with one day left to compete.

Kuramoto's preliminary session on the 1-meter diving board finished with 417.35 points which was fifth best amongst 29 competitors. After starting the finals with a carry-over score of 159.65 points which pitted her seventh among the final eight, the junior closed with 412.70 points and a sixth-place finish.

Senior Tiffany Tseng just missed swimming in the finals of the 100-yard backstroke, placing 18th in the preliminaries with a time of 56.27 which was 13 hundredths of a second off the 16th-place time.

Notes

  • With her second All-America finish of the meet, Kuramoto became the first Tartan to earn a top 8 finish in both diving events at the NCAA Championships. On Thursday, Kuramoto placed fifth on the 3-meter board.
