Five Tartans Close 2015 as ITA All-Americans

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Five Carnegie Mellon University tennis players closed the 2014-2015 season as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Americans. Senior Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) and junior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) from the men's team as well as senior Bryn Raschke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines), sophomore Vanessa Pavia (Thornwood, N.Y./Academy of our Lady of Good Counsel) and freshman Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) from the women's team represent the Tartans on the national list.

Heaney-Secord and Alla both earned their second career honor after winning their respective first round matches at the NCAA Singles Championship. Heaney-Secord made his third trip to the singles championship tournament and closed his final year with a 15-7 recorded, including a seven-match win streak during March. Alla won twice at the NCAA Singles Championship before falling in three sets to eventual national champion, Warren Wood of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, in the quarterfinals. He amassed a record of 25-12 for the year.

All three women earn the award for the first time as Raschke and Sidell receive the recognition for finishing ranked eighth in the final national doubles rankings. The pair competed at the NCAA Doubles Championship, falling in three sets in their first round match, and finished the year with a 12-8 record. Pavia won her first round singles match at the championship to earn All-America honors and recorded a 13-8 mark for the season.

The Tartan men finished the year ranked 11th in the nation while the women finished ranked sixth.
