#12 Tartans Top Whittier to Start Spring Break Trip

(WHITTIER, Calif.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team topped Whittier College, 9-0, on Friday, March 10 to start its spring break trip in California. The Tartans are now 10-3 for the season.

Senior Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) each won two matches for the Tartans. They paired up at number one doubles for an 8-0 win before Torres won, 6-1, 6-3, at number one singles and Sidell won, 6-1, 6-1, at number two singles.

Sidell's win at number two singles clinched the match after sophomore Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) won, 6-0, 6-0, at number three singles to give the Tartans a 4-0 advantage.

The Tartans continue action on Saturday, March 11 at No. 6 Pomona-Pitzer at 3:00 p.m. PST.
