#12 Tartans Battle Hard with #8 Wesleyan

(CLAREMONT, Calif.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 12th in the nation, faced eighth-ranked Wesleyan University on Tuesday in Claremont, California. The Cardinals topped the Tartans, 6-3.

The Tartans (10-5) number three doubles team of sophomore Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) and junior Katie Lai (Hagatna, Guam/St. Andrew's Episcopal School) won their match, 8-5.

In singles play, Vizelman won her eighth-straight match at third singles and did so by a 6-0, 6-2 score. Freshman Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) had an identical score to Vizelman, as she won her fourth singles match.

The Tartans finish a three-match string against top-eight opponents on Wednesday, March 15 against seventh-ranked Amherst College in Claremont, California.
