Torres and Sidell Compete at NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships; Torres Honored as All-American

(CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) both competed at the 2017 NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Thursday, May 25.

Both athletes' season ended on Thursday with setbacks in the opening round. Torres started championship play against University Athletic Association foe and second-seed, Rebecca Ho of Washington University in St. Louis, and dropped a 6-3, 6-1 match. Sidell faced Maryann Zhao of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and fell, 6-2, 6-1.

Torres finished her senior campaign with an 18-11 singles mark and All-America recognition after finishing the season ranked 10th in the nation. Sidell ended the season with a record of 19-10.
