#9 Tartans Shut Out Titans, 9-0

(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – The ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team traveled to Westminster College on Thursday, April 12 for a mid-week match against the Titans. The Tartans defeated the host team, 9-0, for their third straight win and 15th of the season.

Freshmen Hannah Rosenfield (Manchester, England/Windemere Preparatory School) and Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J./South Brunswick) started the scoring with an 8-0 win at third doubles. The second doubles pair of junior Marina Selenica (Birmingham, Mich./Detroit Country Day School) and freshman Nila Ramaswamy (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) then finished by an identical 8-0 score before sophomore Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) and freshman Elizabeth Schulz (Fresno, Calif./Clovis North) won 8-3 at first doubles.

Ollis was first to finish singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fourth position. Ramaswamy earned the match point with the same score at fifth singles.

Schulz also won by a 6-0, 6-0 score at sixth singles while Selenica won at first singles (6-0, 6-2), Rosenfield won at second singles (6-0, 6-1), and Iordache won at third singles (6-0, 6-1).

The Tartans will host 23rd-ranked Kenyon College on Sunday, April 15 for their next match. Time is set for 1:00 p.m.
