ITA Honors Women’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Five Named Scholar Athletes

(TEMPE, Ariz.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team was honored for the ninth straight season and 16th time in the last 17 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, five players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above during the last academic year and the women's team achieved a cumulative average of 3.34 for the year.

In addition to the team honor, seniors Katie Lai (Hagatna, Guam/St. Andrew's Episcopal School) and Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont), junior Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield), and freshmen Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J./South Brunswick) and Hannah Rosenfield (Manchester, England/Windemere Preparatory School) were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.

In order to be eligible to be an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have an academic year GPA of at least 3.50, and been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
