Tartans Close Competition at Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational

(NEWPORT, R.I.) – Competition came to a close at the Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational on Sunday, September 16 with three Tartans finishing the tournament in singles play.

Senior Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio / Mayfield) picked up a 6-1, 7-6 win against Claire Honda of the University of Chicago in the Helena Sukova Flight while sophomore Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) closed the tournament with a win in the Virginia Wade Flight. Strome also topped a Maroon player, winning 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) against Annika Pandey.

Junior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) faced Chicago's Nicole Semonov in the Virginia Wade Flight, falling 6-1, 6-1 to close competition.

The trio, along with junior Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) who also competed in the Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational, will join the rest of the team and compete at the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament next weekend in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
