Tartans Defeat Walsh, 8-1

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted Walsh University on Friday, October 5. The Tartans defeated the Cavaliers 8-1.

Junior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) and sophomore Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J. / South Brunswick) were victorious at second doubles by an 8-5 score while senior Marina Selenica (Birmingham, Mich. / Detroit Country Day School) and freshman Beata Liberchuk (Edgewater, N.J. / Dwight-Englewood) also won by an 8-5 score at third doubles.

In singles action, Taylor won at the first position, 6-3, 6-2, as Strome won 6-1, 6-4 at third singles to make it 4-1.

The Tartans continued to win at singles, sweeping the next four, with Vizelman winning in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 7-6.

Team action will halt for the Tartans until February but Taylor and Strome will compete next weekend at the ITA Oracle Cup in Rome, Georgia.
