#11 Tartans Top Division I Mount St. Mary's 7-2

(GREENSBURG, Pa.) - The 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 7-2 win over Division I Mount St. Mary's University Saturday evening. The Mountaineers are now 0-4 after dropping the contest at the Greensburg Racquet Club.

Carnegie Mellon led 2-1 following doubles play as the home team picked up wins at the second and third spots. The freshmen tandem of Victoria Chang (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) and Beata Liberchuk (Edgewater, N.J. / Dwight-Englewood) collected the first point at third doubles with an 8-0 win. The Tartans second point came when senior Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio / Mayfield) teamed with freshman Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) to win 8-2 at second doubles.

The Cardinal and Gray then picked up win at second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles all in straight sets. Junior Vinaya Rao's (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) 6-1, 6-2 victory at fourth singles clinched the team win for the Tartans.

Carnegie Mellon will be back on the courts Friday, March 1 when the open play at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship against Pomona-Pitzer.
