#10 Tartans End Spring Trip with Tough Setback to #7 Wesleyan

(Orlando, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 10th nationally, dropped a hard fought match, 6-3, to seventh-ranked Wesleyan University in a rematch of the third round of the NCAA Championship from last season. The Tartans are now 9-5 on the season while Wesleyan remains perfect at 4-0.

Sophomore Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J. / South Brunswick) and freshman Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) teamed at third doubles for the Tartans and claimed the lone Cardinal and Gray point heading into singles with an 8-6 win.

Sophomore Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) tied the score at 2-all with a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Freshman Danna Taylor (Orlando, Fla. / Circle Christian School) then gave the Tartans a 3-2 advantage with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the third spot, but Wesleyan would win the last four points.

Carnegie Mellon will be back in action on Saturday, March 30 with a 10:00 a.m. match at Denison University.
