Tartan Women’s Tennis Selected to NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team has been selected to compete for the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship and will travel to Kenyon College for the first, second, and third rounds of competition. The appearance in the postseason event will be the 14th in 15 years for the Tartans, all coming under 16-year head coach Andrew Girard. Play is set to begin on Thursday, May 9 and run through Saturday, May 11.

John Carroll (15-5) will face Wheaton (16-5) and Hope (17-5) will face Principia (9-2) in the first round on Thursday. Carnegie Mellon and Kenyon received first-round byes and will match up with the respective winners on Friday.

The two Friday winners will play on Saturday for the chance to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

All match times are still to be determined and will be announced as soon as information is available.

The Tartans are 8-5 against nationally ranked opponents this year and faced John Carroll in April, winning 9-0.
