Tartans End Season at Quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship

(KALAMAZOO, Mich.) - The 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team played second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Monday in the quarterfinals of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship with play moved indoors at the Markin Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Tartans run at the championships came to a close, as the Athenas defeated the Tartans, 5-1.

The Tartans lone point of the match came at second singles. Senior Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio / Mayfield) ended her collegiate career with a straight set victory. The senior won 6-0, 6-1 over Nicole Tan.

Carnegie Mellon concludes its season with a mark of 19-8 while CMS moves to 26-1 and will play Middlebury College in the semifinals. The quarterfinals appearance was the Tartans sixth in program history.
