ITA Honors Women’s Tennis Team as All-Academic Team; Nine Named Scholar Athletes

(TEMPE, Ariz.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team was honored for the 11th straight season and 18th time in the last 19 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, nine players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above during the last academic year and the women's team achieved a cumulative average of 3.63 for the year.

In addition to the team honor, senior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern), juniors Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J./South Brunswick) and Melissa Strome (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield), sophomores Victoria Chang (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome), Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif./Poway), Beata Liberchuk (Edgewater, N.J./Dwight-Englewood), Ola Wojciak (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel), and Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif./Lynbrook), along with freshman Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla./Doral Academy) were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.

In order to be eligible to be an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have an academic year GPA of at least 3.50, and been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
