#5 Tartans Down Allegheny on the Road 9-0

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis, ranked fifth in Division III, headed to Meadville, Pennsylvania, on Saturday and took down the Gators of Allegheny College 9-0. The win keeps the Tartans record perfect at 10-0.

The Tartans top doubles duo of junior Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and sophomore Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) completed the sweep of doubles with an 8-5 win. Freshman Farida Abdelmoneum (Portland, Ore. / K12 International Academy) and sophomore Megan Qiang (Cleveland, Ohio / Hathaway Brown School) started the scoring with an 8-1 decision at third doubles before senior Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J. / South Brunswick) and junior Ola Wojciak (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) won 8-4 at the second spot.

All six single matches were won in straight sets with Qiang starting the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Iordache then sealed the match for the Tartans winning 6-1, 6-2 at four singles.

The Tartans will head to Westminster on Tuesday, April 6 for a 4:00 p.m. match.
