Cornwall Repeats as CoSIDA Academic All-American

(AUSTIN, Texas) – Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis senior Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif./Poway) earned a repeat selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Women's At-Large Team. Cornwall was honored on the first team this year after being a third-team selection last year.

Cornwall recently completed her women's tennis career with 120 combined match victories to go with three All-America honors. The senior earned her latest All-America award this past fall by virtue of winning the ITA Southeast Regional Doubles Championships. She competed in the 2021 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship, finishing the year ranked fourth nationally in doubles.

Cornwall had an 11-match singles winning streak this year and was named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Team in doubles (first team) and in singles (second team). Additionally, Cornwall competes on the women's track and field team and set a new school record in the discus throw this year.

In the classroom, Cornwall carries a 3.93 in mechanical engineering. She interned for Herrick Technology Labs in 2021, is a mentor for Strong Women Strong Girls, Vice President for Pi Tau Sigma and is an orientation and summer camp counselor at Carnegie Mellon. She is also a member of the club fencing team at Carnegie Mellon.

Cornwall is the second repeat selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team for the women's tennis program and her award this year is the fourth for the women's tennis program.
